Work\u00adshop reg\u00adis\u00adtra\u00adtion: razak.khan@cemis.uni-goettingen.de<\/a><\/strong>

The work\u00adshop exam\u00adines the trans\u00adla\u00adtion of key Ger\u00adman texts into the mod\u00adern lan\u00adguages of India and trans\u00adla\u00adtions from the clas\u00adsi\u00adcal and ver\u00adnac\u00adu\u00adlar lan\u00adguages of South Asia into Ger\u00adman. Our key con\u00adcerns are shift\u00ading his\u00adtor\u00adi\u00adcal con\u00adtexts, con\u00adcepts, and trans\u00adla\u00adtion prac\u00adtices. Bring\u00ading intel\u00adlec\u00adtu\u00adal his\u00adto\u00adry dimen\u00adsion to trans\u00adla\u00adtion stud\u00adies, we explore the his\u00adto\u00adry of trans\u00adla\u00adtion, trans\u00adla\u00adtors, and sites of trans\u00adla\u00adtion. Which authors and texts are trans\u00adlat\u00aded? What hap\u00adpens through the process of lin\u00adguis\u00adtic trans\u00adla\u00adtion in the realm of cul\u00adtur\u00adal trans\u00adla\u00adtion? What can a his\u00adtor\u00adi\u00adcal study of trans\u00adla\u00adtion tell us about the his\u00adto\u00adry of Indo-Ger\u00adman intel\u00adlec\u00adtu\u00adal entan\u00adgle\u00adments? We hope to bring the ques\u00adtion of translation(s) with\u00adin the emerg\u00ading field of entan\u00adgled intel\u00adlec\u00adtu\u00adal his\u00adto\u00adries of Ger\u00admany and India. The work\u00adshop brings togeth\u00ader diverse research themes from Ger\u00adman stud\u00adies and South Asian his\u00adto\u00adry and lit\u00ader\u00adary stud\u00adies to answer some of these questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
