Ravi Ahu\u00adja is head of the research group \u2018Mod\u00adern Indi\u00adan His\u00adto\u00adry\u2019 at the Cen\u00adtre for Mod\u00adern Indi\u00adan Stud\u00adies of Georg-August-Uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty G\u00f6ttingen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ravi Ahu\u00adja has worked on var\u00adi\u00adous aspects of India\u2019s social his\u00adto\u00adry from 18th to 20th cen\u00adtu\u00adry includ\u00ading urban his\u00adto\u00adry, the his\u00adto\u00adry of infra\u00adstruc\u00adture and the social his\u00adto\u00adry of war. His research inter\u00adests have increas\u00ading\u00adly moved towards con\u00adtem\u00adpo\u00adrary his\u00adto\u00adry. Cur\u00adrent research projects exam\u00adine the social his\u00adto\u00adry of South Asian sea\u00adfar\u00aders and the emer\u00adgence of a labour-cen\u00adtred social pol\u00adi\u00adcy in mid-twen\u00adti\u00adeth cen\u00adtu\u00adry India. After teach\u00ading at the South Asia Insti\u00adtute in Hei\u00addel\u00adberg and con\u00adduct\u00ading research at the Cen\u00adtre for Mod\u00adern Ori\u00aden\u00adtal Stud\u00adies in Berlin he was appoint\u00aded Pro\u00adfes\u00adsor of Mod\u00adern South Asian His\u00adto\u00adry at the School of Ori\u00aden\u00adtal and African Stud\u00adies (SOAS<\/span>) in Lon\u00addon. He joined CeMIS as its found\u00ading direc\u00adtor in 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ravi Ahu\u00adja favours research-ori\u00adent\u00aded modes of teach\u00ading. CeMIS\u2019s Mod\u00adern Indi\u00adan His\u00adto\u00adry research group offers a broad spec\u00adtrum of cours\u00ades that reflects the vivid and diverse his\u00adto\u00adri\u00adog\u00adra\u00adphy on South Asian soci\u00adeties. Apart from his\u00adtor\u00adi\u00adcal sur\u00advey cours\u00ades for first-year under\u00adgrad\u00adu\u00adate stu\u00addents, our teach\u00ading cov\u00aders themes of social and eco\u00adnom\u00adic his\u00adto\u00adry like urban his\u00adto\u00adry, gen\u00adder his\u00adto\u00adry, the his\u00adto\u00adry of tech\u00adnol\u00ado\u00adgy and med\u00adi\u00adcine, the his\u00adto\u00adry of social move\u00adments or the social his\u00adto\u00adry of war. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
